Have you ever wondered, “what is the right path to express ones emotion or is the
emotion you expressed valid or not?” From beginning to the end one feels and shows many
sentiments in life as it is a part of human existence. A Zimbabwean politician and author, Roy
Bennett once said, “You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control the way you
think about all the events. You always have a choice. You can choose to face them with a
positive mental attitude.” A positive attitude is not just about sporting that smile on your face
every time, it is more than that. It is about maintaining that optimistic mindset and attitude even
when things are in utter chaos. It is often said that what good or bad diet does to one’s body,
positive and negative thoughts do the same to one’s mind! Feed your mind with positive
thoughts and you will see amazing changes around you. When you start thinking optimistically,
your mind becomes clear of any negative thoughts and you will see the world in a new light. You
will stop blaming yourself or others. You will be in total control of your emotions and try to seek
a valuable lesson in every setback you experience.
Every person goes through a certain change in the lifetime of their existence, may it
at any age. A change can be good or bad but a change only occurs in case one comes to
realization or enlightenment in one’s life. A person’s emotion and mental health goes through a
lot of hardships in life and for it to stay positive one needs to bring such changes in their
mentality. When ones in his child phase he/she does not know right from wrong. They do not
restrain their emotions and think about the actions that they take. Similarly, my life as a kid was
filled with fury and irrationality. I was imbued with negativity. Fights and arguments would be
something that occurred on an everyday basis even when I was the one at fault. As I was a child
with not much knowledge I would put myself in right, even at small situation or incident I would
take it in a negative perspective and outburst in rage throwing tantrum.
As time went by my anger started to be uncontrollable and unpredictable. My mind
as a child could not handle such rage and it came out in form of tantrum and fights. My parents
would scold me and try to consult me, but as a small kid I would again not listen be enraged.
After many such incidents of anger one day an incident occurred in which I could not see myself
in a better way. The day I started to be criticized and scolded by all every time. At that moment I
came to a realization that it was I that was wrong and had made the mistake. Through that
moment I came to know myself even better and question my thoughts. So I set a resolve for me
to achieve, I told myself that I would look at the world with a better perspective and positive
manner. I reflected on my past self and started to make reform myself through various means.
I, to bring positivity in my mentality started to search the internet and found out some
methods there. I tried many such methods. I initialed a change in my habits. I begin to meditate
and keep my mind off such negative thoughts. I distracted myself and my mind with various
other alternatives. I would watch cartoons and such to keep my mind from thinking about such
things. Whenever I thought I would have hard time to keep myself off it I would sleep or started
to watch animes and movies to keep my mind occupied. I would not involve myself with other
thinking about the past. And slowly I began to make changes in myself and started to calm
myself in case of agitated situation. I started to not care about what others say and think about
me. Whenever I was in a situation where I felt that my positivity was in danger I would involve
myself in other actives. Slowly as time has passed I have come to current state of calmness and
positivity. Many events have repeated itself from the past but what new is how I take them and
how I deal with such events. I chose to not be agitated by words or actions of other. As a result
of such, the current me is much more positive and calm individual who doesn’t mind of others
and only be what I am. As time passed by I have become the man I am now and the man that
doesn’t care of what others think about me.
Therefore, one’s life is what he/she makes of it. We can change and influence how
we act, and how we feel, by modifying our think. Your thoughts are immensely powerful. They
determine how you feel, your decisions and your actions – every part of your life that you can
control. Your thoughts are one of the most powerful tools you will ever have in changing your
life. A positive attitude helps you cope more easily with the daily affairs of life. It brings
optimism into your life, and makes it easier to avoid worries and negative thinking. If you adopt
it as a way of life, it would bring constructive changes into your life, and makes them happier,
brighter and more successful. Changes occur in life in every moment but some are such changes
that affect your life immensely and bring happiness or sadness in one’s life. I encourage people
to not take mind of people’s word and actions and one focus on oneself and thus improvement.
